Sri Ramanopadesa Noonmalai

There is a new word-for-word translation of some of Bhagavan's key works available. Entitled Sri Ramanopadesa Noonmalai, it contains translations by Michael James, and a commentary by Sadhu Om, of Ulladu Narpadu, Ulladu Narpadu Anubandham, Ekatma Panchakam, Appalap Pattu and Atma Vidhai Keertanam. I will be putting in the sales section of my site in a few day's time. Here, meanwhile, are scans of the first benedictory verse of Ulladu Narpadu to give an idea of how the texts have been laid out, translated and commented on.

Dear Sir, The purported sanskrit translation is written in English. I am unsure of the value of such. Does the text say who translated into English? Also it is not mentioned that KLS went on to have personal teaching from Sri Bhagavan to correct his lack of ability to perform the task. This resulted in a full and satisfactory translation of the text. /\ Thank you.

I suggest you address your query to Michael James at his Happiness of Being site. I am sure he could provide you with the original text, along with the name of the person who did the translation.

Lakshmana Sarma's lessons from Bhagavan were on the teachings contained in Ulladu Narpadu. As such, they were lessons in Tamil on the meaning of the Tamil original. After each lesson Lakshmana Sarma would translate each verse into Sanskrit to demonstrate that he had fully understood what Bhagavan had taught him. Bhagavan made him recast these verses many times until he (Bhagavan) was satisfied that the verses fully conveyed the meaning of the original. Later on, Lakshmana Sarma made a new translation of the whole text, again under Bhagavan's supervision, in a longer metre.
